Collection of Equipment:
Within the United States, each city, township or area has a fire station to protect the families in their proximity. In some cities there are literally a hundred fire stations. The general nature of the fire-fighting concept in the USA works to save lives and property by the constant improvement of equipment and continual training for firemen at every level. The programs for training fire fighters are numerous and the equipment is getting replaced consistently as a part of policy and procedures required by government regulations. Thus there is a natural overflow of goods and equipment that may be purchased at discount prices, donated for like-kind write-offs by manufacturers or donated from stored areas at firehouses.
In any of these situations, Gear-Up will procure the equipment, oversee the refurbishing when needed and develop a specific delivery plan to a specific city in both the USA and South America. The cities within the USA tend to be volunteer fire departments in rural settings that do not have the budgets in place to support each volunteer fireman. In general these fire departments have a firehouse and the trucks, but some of the gear is limited due to the expense to equip each individual volunteer. We have also had requests for extra lengths of hose and breathing apparatus.
The general nature of the fire-fighting concept in the USA works to save lives and property by the constant improvement of equipment and continual training for firemen at every level. We wish to extend that opportunity to those needing assistance in various ways. The equipment is out in the communities and we are working to redistribute the equipment within all fire fighting communities.

Assistance from the USA
The United States has one of the best, if not the best, fire fighting training and equipment in the world. Each year countless lives are saved with property loss being managed to prevent total loss in most cases. The weakest link in the chain of this success story is the rural volunteer fire departments.
This particular situation does not mean that the rural sections do not have fire trucks and some gear but that in many cases more is needed to outfit the men that make up the department. The greatest need is bunker gear, helmets, boots and other cover gear that protects the fireman. OSHA regulations are not met in many cases but the local government responsible for service to the community budgets for the necessities but do not have the deep pockets to meet the national standards.
The solution is getting those that have with those that have not. The brotherhood of firemen runs deep and our concept of Firemen helping Firemen is a given in that most fire departments will and are assisting each other and Gear-Up through this project. We are posting the wish lists of those departments that have contacted us for assistance.
Gear-Up Foundation will accept all donations of gear of any type whether in top condition meeting OSHA regulation or worn and not meeting regulative standards, Gear-Up will put the gear into the hands of those that need it. As you will note in the wish lists departments are requesting hose and nozzles. Although they have some hose, they need more lengths or replacement hose that has weakened over the years. Again it is a budget issue that causes the shortages.
The Question ??? What do you have around your department that is no longer needed or will be replaced in the near future? Yes, we have a liability waiver for you when you ship gear. We will pay for the shipping and handling as well. Do you have a fire truck that is going on sale? We would like to make a bid. There are many ways to assist the Gear-Up Foundation.
