Blog : Xavier--

I read your article in the Beta magazine and thought your trip sonded sweet. I was a Beta at Kenyon in Ohio. I graduated in 2001 and live in Eastern kentucky now where I work for the Red Cross. My story is similar. The details are different. I was born and rew up in DC. after 9/11 I decided to shake thinsup and start doing more service. Eventualy last spring I finnaly went to doing service full time and became a VISTA volunter which is how I came down here to Appalachia. I left my job on K street with a trade asociation. I am basicaly here being a full time volunteer and love it. I am also on the MIllard East Shelbiana Fire Rescue. The region we live in is extremly poor. Pike county is one of the poorest ocunties in Kentucky which is one of the poorest states in the US. Our department is great. I love the guys on it and lovebing on it. Of course I love the rush, but really get a lot out of doing it. We have been trying to get more gear and better stuff. I for instance do not have pants as part of my turn out geat. I have contacted Gear-up and a few other places like Helping our Own.

Any suggestions on geing stuf would be great. Anyways, I will take a lok at your site from time to time and see what you have been up to. Once again, Loved the article, and knowing tha there are other betas out there who have decided to give their lives to service. redcrossandrew@yahoo.com

Blog : HEY, GUYS!
THIS IS A QUICK MESSAGE FOR MIKE...
GLAD EVERYTHING FINALLY TURNED OUT OK AND YOU WERE ABLE TO RECOVER YOUR BIKE IN CHICAGO!
QUICK MESSAGE FOR X - BE SURE TO KEEP UPDATING THE ROAD DIARY...YOUR ABILITY TO EXPRESS YOUR EXPERIENCES IS AMAZING!
HAPPY TRAVELS & KEEP RIDING!

REPLYFROM XAVIER:
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT AND RESEARCH! IN THE END I ENDED UP PAYING ONLY $750 TO SHIP FRANKY (MY BIKE) AS OPPOSED TO THE OTHER AGENTS QUOTE OF $1400.
I WILL RECOMMEND UNITED AIR CARGO ON OTHER MOTORCYCLE BULLETIN BOARDS...AND HAVE THEM ASK FOR YOU. JUST KIDDING, I KNOW THE TWO-WHEELED, DANGEROUS CARGO ITEMS ARE THE WORST TO DEAL WITH, BUT YOU MADE IT LOOK EASY...AND CHEAP.
SEE YOU ON THE ROAD--X

Blog : Thanks for the kind words in the travel-log!! I'm back in CO, looking for work. Could have had a job, but I was grossly overqualified and they couldnt meet my salary requirements, so I'm looking into other options.

I'm doing a slide show April 28th and want to add the pics from our portion. Could you send me a CD ASAP? Check your email for my address.

Thanks

Blog : Blog man. Don't hide, it will only make things worse. Someday the mountain might get you, but the law never will.
